KIA WHAKATIPU TAMARIKI MIHARO
Childcare Manager
Do you strive to do your best every day?
Do you have a passion for working with children and want to make a difference?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Childcare Manager at Mayfair School to manage, develop and oversee the provision of high quality play experiences for the Before/After school and Holiday Programme setting.
As Childcare Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, organisation and delivery of the day-to-day operations of the service, providing flexible childcare to children aged 5 -13 years. You will provide high quality care and a comprehensive range of appropriate stimulating and creative activities, such as arts and crafts, storytelling, physical play and organising trips and outings appropriate to the needs and interests of the children.
You would be expected to manage and work as a member of the team contributing to children's learning and development within a safe and inclusive environment out of school hours in a registered childcare service.
A flexible approach to working conditions is required as the contracted hours are a minimum of 20-25 hrs per week, term-time, between 2pm – 5.30pm and up to 50 hours per week during holiday periods, between 8am – 5.30pm on a rota basis.
As this is a child focused role, you will need to be sensitive, patient, compassionate and have a welcoming approach to generate a feeling of trust and safety for children and their whanau. A genuine interest in the development of children, their wellbeing and the ability to respect confidentiality at all times is essential. You will also be kind, respectful, have good manners and importantly, a sense of fun.
Supervisory skills are required to manage, as are excellent communication skills to motivate and engage with staff and children. To ensure the effective delivery of our services, you should have excellent planning and organisation skills as well as the ability to maintain administrative information.
Previous OSCAR experience would be useful but not required, as full training will be given. You will be required to complete a Police Vet, Child Protection for Out of School Care Providers Certificate and a current First Aid Certificate would be an advantage but not essential as this can be gained at a later date.
